Dwight Williams' Report

The Power of the Peak

It’s early morning on 8/8/08; to prophetically minded folks this is a day of great significance, the day of new beginnings. I wondered, if one eight means new beginnings, then what does three mean? Sixteen means established new beginnings. As I write I receive this word: “What has been spoken and decreed, battled for and birthed, and promises I have made - I have already begun anew, but now, I the Lord am making them established permanent - not to be shaken or taken ever again.” God reminds me of Gideon and the rebuilding of Jerusalem, and I think to myself, if God owns something that’s been taken by the enemy, and He wants it back, one way or another, He will take it back.

This morning I am driving my wife Cykeitha to work in Granbury, Texas; we will be over there all day and into the night for a gathering. “A gathering.” It sounds so gentle and unassuming, and yet it would probably be more appropriate to call it a show down. This show down has all the trappings of an old west movie. In fact, Kevin Costner would most likely jump at the opportunity to direct it. As we drive south on highway 377, Cykeitha points off in the distance and says, “There’s Comanche Peak.” Comanche Peak is the highest point in Hood County; it sits overlooking the area, a great spot to go for a spiritual encounter, which is the reason for this article but more importantly the gathering.

The state of Texas is rich with western history and legend, but when legend becomes real life, it becomes history, a part of our past. A problem with the past is that we don’t always like it and wish we could change it. Only God can change it.

In the early life of Texas, as in the beginning of this nation, there were conflicts with the first people of this land, many times in the name of the Lord. Both sides were doing what seemed right at the time. The white people were guilty of many atrocities against the Native Americans including, sexual immorality, massacre, broken treaties and trying to starve them. In 1840, the Comanche and whites met in the Republic of Texas under a truce flag.  They established a time for talks in San Antonio at a council house and the white leaders demanded that all white captives be returned by Native Americans.  The 13 chiefs represented brought only one woman,Matilda Lockhart, who had been through some torture.  The whites threatened to hold them captive until they returned them all.  As tension rose the Comanche tried to leave and a fight broke out killing many of the Comanche people; This was under a flag of truce.  After this incident a young chief, Buffalo Hump went to a place used by the Comanche for rest and renewal. He went to pray for wisdom and guidance. Buffalo Hump’s anger raged as his heart had been torn apart; an agreement written in honor and trust had been broken, and the indigenous people place high value on honor, trust, respect and faith. Think about it. Without these things, what else do you have? Not much. Buffalo Hump received a vision; in this vision, he was shown how to go south to Victoria and below to war.  They killed many whites, which included  military leaders,

The place he went to receive this vision was Comanche Peak. Comanche Peak was and still is considered a special place where a Comanche burial ground still exists. We believe this peak became an altar and a portal from Heaven, much like the one Jacob saw.  True rest for the Comanche, I believe, had to come from Christ, the only true source of rest. Buffalo Hump sought a vision from the spirits, and along with the blood that was shed, created a great shifting in the spirit realm.  However, this act of defilement, along with the continued use of the peak as an altar to seek “spirits,” caused a blocking of that portal from Heaven and allowed the forces of darkness to have control of a high place. At the same time the white people were guilty of serving their own greed with no regard for the land or the First Nations people that God loves. As we know, Jehovah is the only true ruler of the high places. These acts of misdirected worship would bring dark moments in history for many generations up to and including today.

As we fast forward, both sides have realized mistakes were made; acts of repentance on both sides had to be done.  Some symbolic ceremonies had to take place. These ceremonies, although symbolic in the natural sense, have great power in the spiritual world. Therefore, on the night of 8/8/08 the spiritual realm was rocked to its foundation. The night began with Mark Wauahdooah leading the Comanche representatives being honored as they entered the sanctuary of Crossroads Prayer center; They were welcomed with excited applause and cheers. I don’t know if they will ever fully know how their coming made our spirits soar to heights that only Heaven could contain. We sang and worshiped the Lord, and just as only the Holy Spirit can queue, prophetic words were spoken to release healing and reconciliation into the gathering.

In the spirit realm, the evil ones and the army of the Lord fought with supernatural fury as the evil army tried to hang on to a high place that had been a stronghold for one hundred and sixty eight years or longer. The saints of God were doing what they were instructed to do in scripture, bring down the strongholds; the angels of Heaven were gaining momentum with every act of worship. We were engaged in warfare as the cowboy (Cowboy Church pastor) and the Indian danced before the Lord while an African American sister sang the word of the Lord.  All the while, we were sending a message to Satan: your strongholds are coming down. The Lion of Judah roared as the worship culminated in all of us being led by our brother Shade Large in a Native American dance; we were arm in arm in one complete unbroken circle as we shuffled sideways while the young and old generations were coming together. The enemy retreated to the Peak in an attempt to find strength and lick their wounds, but tomorrow would finish this fight.

During Friday night, there were gifts exchanged. The Brazos Strategic Network had sought the Lord for a gift; those gifts were mantles that had the look of suede with blue fringe.  Embroidered on them was a picture of a mountain, and on either side of the mountain were two buffalo with the scripture from Malachi 4:2 stitched on them.

How appropriate was the scripture!  Merrie Cardin and the ladies that worked on the mantles presented each of the Comanche representatives with one. We would later be overwhelmed to learn just how great of an honor it was for us that they received them. Negiel Bigpond spoke to us of how the next nine days where important to tarry with the Lord an hour a day because God wanted to finish a work in us. As I reflect back to that night and the next morning, I realize for a few hours Father God allowed us to have a tiny sense of the emotions of our Native American brothers and sisters and how they place such importance on honor, trust, faith and spiritual matters. There was connection made when they saw us seeking God’s signs and approval in creation itself, and the signs were there, wind, and an eagle (there is not suppose to be eagle’s here this time of year). The Holy Spirit allowed many of us to see that which is not seen.

I am concerned that I cannot do justice to the gathering on the peak in one article as there was so much that took place. The Texas Apostolic Prayer Network led by Tom Schlueter that oversaw this event should have video presentation to offer, and I would strongly recommend that all get it. Tom was overcome several times as were we all. I think it’s safe to say that we don’t fully know the impact of what was done, but we know something happened. Even if it were only the restoration of broken relationships, that would be enough.  There is no doubt in my mind that what took place went far beyond that.

Some might ask if all of this was necessary.  In response, I would have to ask if the cross necessary?  Although not of the same magnitude, Jesus’ death, burial. and resurrection was in response to save His children from misguided acts and choices. Our act was also done in response to bad choices and decisions. Christ left us in charge of this world, and through His power, are we not supposed to try to be like our Father, imitating His actions of love, grace and mercy while doing whatever it takes, short of  comprising His word, in order to bring healing and salvation to everyone? Are we not supposed to decree restoration to the land and the people, and dare I say it, decree that this nation was chosen by the Great Spirit Father God the Creator, to be a Christian nation under His kingship?

This certainly was not your normal church service, but what I and many others experienced was a little taste of what God’s greater plan is: one body in Christ, or as we were seeing, one new man - a restored and healed man, or maybe, more appropriately, the true bride of Christ making herself ready and presentable to her Groom.

It is through a prophetic word I received from the Lord that I believe the First People of this nation were intended by God to be the stewards of this land. I believe the Father’s desire was for us to work and live harmoniously with them, helping them fulfill their destiny. This is why I think they have such a heart and understanding of the land and its environment. When the time was right, Holy Spirit began calling to the intercessors, prophets, apostles and the watchman saying “Restore My land, lift up My native people pray for them that they might be renewed and reinstated to that standing of honor and stewardship of the land which I the Lord called them to so long ago, fight on your knees, and through worship and praise calling on My power to be released to them and lift them up high before Me so that I might bless their head with a kiss and anointing them with the oil of gladness, removing their pain and healing their wounded spirit,” and so those called, responded from all over.

Saturday morning, the 9th ,the TAPN and the Comanche delegation went to the top of the peak; at the same time, in obedience to a vision and lead by Holy Spirit, four teams went to strategic locations around the bottom, covering the north, south, east and west. On the top,  prayer and communion began the ceremony, and there were blessings traded as well as prophetic gestures, both symbolic and in the natural.

The intercession teams prayed strategic prayers as Holy Spirit instructed; in the spirit, riders on white horses where seen ascending to the mountain top to help the lone rider in battle. When the riders had reached the top, they turned facing outward and positioned themselves around the top just as we would later learn was seen in the vision. We knew the peak was restored back to King Jesus. Could God have just taken it back? Yes; however, He left for us to possess - to take the land and to be stewards of the land. For Him to do this, would have meant God was revoking His commission to us. Christ came and restored our place of authority in this world, and His desire was to reclaim Eden. To accomplish this, He would use us the ones that lost it.

We knew that this would effect all of Texas and beyond. What we didn’t know was how or when.  As I finish this article,  it’s been nearly two weeks.  One of the signs we were watching for that would tell us God was pleased was rain; I can tell you that a couple of days after the gathering,  rain began in the Panhandle of Texas.  I received a call from my dad this evening, and he said the Canadian River was flowing five feet deep.. This is significant the Canadian is usually just a trickle I can tell its been at least twenty years since I’ve seen that, this river feeds into lake Meredith a primary water source for the region which in recent years has nearly dried up; at its full level its around eighty feet deep, it is now fifty feet in depth and rising. Let me say some rain came three weeks earlier but nothing compared to this amount.

The water in this lake has had a very salty taste for years because it is high in minerals.  I believe this water, when it settles, is going to have a new taste; God is changing the whole make up of the water, just as He is doing with us. Our understanding of who He is and who we are in Him is being refreshed and renewed. We are seeing a pattern clearly now of the connection between our care of the land and the physical and spiritual condition of this nation, God said ,in the garden of Eden, to take care of the land and all within it. In part, we have neglected the land ecologically, but the real issues with the land began with us and our relationships, past and present and future.

This gathering was to bring reconciliation to a people and a land; this is just one of many gatherings that has and should take place.  Healing of this nation will come quicker in every arena when this happens. Most the time, I would say to leave the past in the past, but for true healing to take place, you must first deal with the root or the source of the wounding. Our history is riddled with racial conflicts; we have to have gatherings of restoration. These gatherings need to be done by the leading of Holy Spirit and must start with intercession and hearing the word from the prophet. God has just given me a vision of many gatherings all over the land as many cultures and colors come together to worship Christ the King.

I don’t speak of a “one religion” or of a “many of gods” type gathering, but an understanding that God, our father in heaven who is the Christ and still dwells here in Spirit, is the source of true reconciliation, restoration and renewal; praise the King of Glory for He has come to heal the land.
